Nanaimo Community Home Learners (NCHL) - Who We Are

Nanaimo Community Home Learners provide homeschool support to families in and around the Nanaimo area. Unschooling, classical education and traditional home learning styles are all welcome. You will find our members have diverse approaches to home education as well as a wide variety of reasons for home schooling. We celebrate the diversity of our group and count it as one of our greatest strengths.

Nanaimo Community Home Learners (NCHL) began in 1990 with a small group of families meeting once a month to share experiences and information for the teaching of their children at home.

Now numbering over 50 families, NCHL is still a parent-run organization focusing on independently supporting home learning students and parents. With the growth in number of families has come a wider and richer scope of activities, services, and networking opportunities. NCHL is an open group: Any homelearning family with any learning philosophy is welcome to join. We have members across the spectrum from unschooling to structured home schooling with both secular and religious beliefs.

Our meetings are friendly places to swap advice, ask questions, and make new friends. We meet the first Thursday of each month from September through to June. See our Events & Gatherings page for the location and time of our next gathering.
